The DNA of Business

In a small world of certified coaches, there is a phrase that is used almost daily. From the Facebook secret group for the John Maxwell Team to the coaches who shout out #JMTDNA to the Live event for the coaching certification. The JMTDNA is family, no matter where you are, you know that you have a team of coaches that truly connect with you on the same level of compassion within John Maxwell Team.

But what really is a DNA of Business? Outside of the John Maxwell Team, I had never heard of other organizations adopting this philosophy, but I have no doubt that someone has adopted it aside from The John Maxwell Team. In fact, I would be surprised that another organization has not included their employees in their DNA as their team.

What does DNA really mean within an organization? According to the dictionary, the definition of DNA is the fundamental and distinctive characteristics or qualities of someone or something, especially when regarded as unchangeable. DNA is an abbreviation for deoxyribonucleic acid, sometimes called "the molecule of life. Interesting enough, everyone has a unique DNA and when you find people who are like minded in your business, you easily connect with them. But what happens when your DNA is opposite, should you negate the person because they are different than you and your business goals? I personally would say, absolutely not! Simply because the ideas that come from opposites can be of the most value to your mind, goals and future accomplishments.

When you are seeking business relationships, your vision may be exactly what you are searching for and working towards, but a person who has a different vision than you can be the exact individual that you will catapult your vision because they are seeing your vision with another idea on how to aid you in getting there. Some of the best brainstorming sessions have come from opposite DNA thinking because the mind is mysterious in developing an idea.

Next time you think about looking for an ideal brainstorm partner, think about choosing someone who thinks differently from you and watch the ideas unfold as you collaborate ideas. And be aware of each idea unfolds to bring you to a new way of thinking.
